Who our group is:
Positive Powerful Parents is a Self Advocacy Group based in Victoria.
Positive Powerful Parents is run by and for parents with intellectual disability.
What does our group care about?
PPP works to raise awareness of the issues and discrimination parents with intellectual disability face when they are involved with the child protection system.
PPP believe that parents with intellectual disability have their own unique way of parenting and with the right supports in place, most parents should be able to keep their children at home with them.
PPP believe parents with intellectual disability have the right to access the supports they need.
Things our group has worked on:
- Running Friendship Groups
- Connecting parents across Australia via social media
- Run training for parents to start their own Self Advocacy Groups
- Created an award winning short film called “Compare the Parents”
Who can be member of our group?
You can be a member of Positive Powerful Parents if you:
- Are a parent with intellectual disability
